Optical Program Tutors/Mentors

2/24/2017 11:45:34 AM

The Opticians Association of Canada is in the beginning stages of creating a database of Licensed Opticians and Contact Lens Fitters across the country who would be interested in tutoring/mentoring Optical Program students in areas of their respective programs in which they may require additional support. These areas may be academic or clinical-based. Some examples may include: optical calculations, RGP fitting and keratometer/slit lamp instruction.

Individuals would need to have extensive knowledge in those areas they wish to offer mentorship/tutoring. The basic idea is that if a student is in need of additional support outside of what is provided within their Optical program, or an individual is possibly doing educational upgrading, they can call the OAC office and be provided with a list of tutors/mentors in their city that they can contact.

If this is something that would be of interest to you, please email education@opticians.ca and you will receive further information.
