Description
Professional Judgment and Ethical Decision-Making is designed as an interactive session that speaks to ethical dilemmas Opticians often face in the workplace. The new Standards of Practice require that, more than ever, opticians use professional judgement to assess their patient’s health status and make appropriate decisions when dispensing. A key principle of practice when opticians exercise expanded scope activities is that they do so only for the benefit of the patient based on the individual nature of the patient’s need/history Including an introduction to ethics, moving through approaches to and academic theories including ethical frameworks, this CE course will consider ethics in practice, using professional judgment in practice.

Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this session, the participant will:
1. Understand the concept of ethics in the workplace;
2. Be able to deliberate various ethical and professional choices;
3. Understand the meaning and implementation of professional judgment.
